Change. Lot's of change in our lives and a career change was not excluded. Back in September I was invited to an open interview in Los Angeles for Skywest Airline. I arrived promptly at 7am in full business attire not to mention the mandatory lip gloss and mascara. They opened the doors at 8am starting with measurements to see if you met the height requirements and 500 of us were split in rooms of three.
After selling us on "Why Skywest" we were given 30 seconds to say why we wanted to be a flight attendant. TALK ABOUT NERVE WRECKING. Once all of us had gone and we had taken our hour lunch break, names were posted on the door with basically "cuts" 40 people were chosen and I WAS ONE OF THEM. It definitely felt like I had been chosen for some cool reality show like American idol! But no time to get to excited because then it was time for the one on one interview. After which they said we would hear via email whether we got it or not! I did. My class date for training was not assigned to me but they figured it would be in the first quarter of 2011. Fast forward February 2nd, heading to Salt Lake City to start 27 days of intense training. I have never had to study so hard for tests, pay attention in class so much and be away from my babies for so long. It was tough. Nearly all of us quit at one point or another but with the help of friends both in and out of training most of got with . I will be forever grateful for the support I was given to fulfill a dream.
